Manchester Ice Rink is set to return this winter and for the first time in eight years it’s on the move! New Bailey, which is just a pirouette, spin and axel jump away from Spinningfields, is ready to play host to the city centre’s largest outdoor rink, inviting people to lace up their boots from Thursday, November 12th until Sunday, January 3rd.
The ice rink is part of a festive hub of activity at New Bailey, with fairground rides, festive choristers, DJs, themed sessions and family entertainment all taking place over the winter period. Junior skaters or wobbly adults can buddy up with Penguin Skating Supports, whilst the helpful staff on the rink make the experience easy, safe and super-fun!
Open to the public seven days a week from 10.00am until 9pm at weekends and 3.00pm until 9pm Monday – Friday, the rink will also provide a viewing platform for those who would rather spectate than skate. And for those who feel a bit peckish after all that exercise, there is a selection of bars, cafes and restaurants in the local neighbourhood, and a steady stream of mulled wine to put people in the festive mood!
Tickets start at £9.00 for adults, with discounts for student nights and family tickets. There is also parking available on site at the NCP car park.
Libby Witherden, Head of Marketing and Events at New Bailey, said; “The Manchester Ice Rink has become something of an institution in the city centre and with its move this year, we’re keen to make sure people know where to go! There is a whole festive line-up planned at New Bailey over the winter and we’re looking forward to seeing people lacing up their boots and hitting the ice!”
Phil Mayall, development director at New Bailey, said: “The ice rink has become the number one event in the city’s Christmas calendar so we are extremely pleased to be hosting it at New Bailey this year. We have invested a great deal in the new events space at New Bailey which is situated next to the NCP car park and Premier Inn, and we are delighted that our first event is such a popular one.”
